Home at Teck Whye

Weekends usually mean a trip to Kinokuniya bookstore.. It's a lovely place, and as these pictures show, Chunchun usually finds a way to busy herself and have fun while she is there. She picked up a book and then pretended to call out family members' names as a roll-call of sorts. The book is for her to read out the names, and also for her to be written on as each name is called out. This particular roll-call was more hilarious than usual, because she deliberately mangled up the family members' names. So instead of 'reading' Chen Baba or Chen Luixing, she said Chen Ba-'Po' or Chen Lui-'Pipi', or some other nonsense. And then she bursts out in laughter at her own invented silliness. And yes, she does this roll-call thing at home sometimes too.

"Today I would like to introduce you to my friend, Kai En... you might have seen him before in photos of the Apr trip to Taiwan. His family lives near ours, and so we are here at a playground nearby our homes. Today our activity is to put ants onto Papa's camera...

"See how we children gingerly pick up the ants with our sticks.. Careful now..."

".. and that's the ants on the sticks... just checking.."

"And then we carefully place them on Papa's camera."

(Papa's note: Kids were using imaginative play actually. We could see ants marching in a line at the edge of the playground where the kids squatted down, but they were playing at actually picking them up to put on my camera. No ants were harmed in this post. )
